    Default Developing Java Applet

This might be the wrong forum if so sorry but basically I am looking for some ideas for a Java project for University.

I have a habit of picking projects that are incredible difficult or too basic to gain enough credit. I need to develop a java application that uses a database or XML and which could be used be a 'client'.

There is probably endless possibilities for projects but my mind has gone completely blank.

There are some good ideas here: Java Student Projects

Your title says "Applet" but your text says "application" -- which is it?
