Generating a Keystore

Please am really having serious issues with generating a keystore. I followed the sun java tutorial example included on generating a keystore, but whenever the cmd prompt for ENTER PASSPHRASE FOR kEYSTORE the cmd just becomes somewhat inactive, i wouldnt be able to type anything again. Please I nedd help.:mad:
