Applet not showing even java is installed

Hi to everyone,
Hope you all are fine.I am encountering a strange situation and i am unable to understand how this can be happen. Actually one of my user is saying that he has java installed on his computer, when he type on command prompt java - version it shows you have java1.5.0_11 but he is unable to see the applet. In fire fox he is saying nothing shown in place pf applet but a error mark and in Internet explorer nothing is shown in place of applet but in the bottom line the message like object does not support is shown.
I this possible you have java installed and applet not shown. Is this java version issue or some other problem or browser issue .Please help

Installing JDK in your system will not help you to see the applet. Either you've to install SDK or JRE latest version. If you are not a developer, JRE(Java Runtime Environment) is enough. At the same time, in browser you've enable Java.

Hope all is fine at your end. Thanks for the reply. Update to latest version effect any file on the system that is currently running with 1.5.0_11? One thing also Installing JDK automatically install JRE so why you are saying that JDK is not sufficient

you could have java plugin turned off in the browser. or maybe the html code is not correct. The best thing to do is go to an applet site that you know it works and test it.

Sorry lol, what I say is if you are not a developer, actually your user, then what's the point to install JDK? Just wasting your HDD space.

Thanks.ya i know it's of no use to install JDK if you are not a developer :) .Upgrading to latest JRE version or JDK or SDK effect any file on the system that is running with previous version.

Time to time I'm upgrading all my versions. But so far I didn't come with any issues at all in my system. If there any case you most of the time Suns' upgrade/installation guide explain. Best thing it before upgrade any application in your system, not only JDK/JRE/SDK, read the release note.

I'm having a similar problem in that when I visit gamesites like Pogo.com or some chat sites it tells me Java is not detected yet when I run RegTool or follow suggestions from the affected sites it's all there. I have followed options in FAQ but when I pull down Advanced tab in Internet Options from Vista Java does not appear anywhere in the list.
Any suggestions how to put this right?

You probably just need to go to Sun's download page and download the latest JRE.

Yes, this will fix your issue. Either your JRE version can be outdated or can be corrupted.

:confused: Perhaps I didn't make it clear in my first post but the nly thing that the Java site offers as a download is Java 6 which I have downloaded. How do I access this other download from the Java site?

Just search on the Google as "download jre 1.6" and you can see lots of resources to download it. I've just put the text of the download link, since you are not able to see any links here.

Just copy that text and paste in your browser, just scroll down the page, you can see an option to download JRE versions/updates.

Hope you all will be fine.Sorry for late reply actually i solved this issue and i think i replied but i didn't, so Sorry actually the problem is i compiled my java file on JRE 6 update 12 and my user has JRE 5 on his computer that's y the applet is not showing. So the solution is whether you update your JRE or compiled the file in previous version of JRE
