Default errors for a java applet

Hi, I have a java applet on my web site it works fine 90% of the time. This applet allow user to drop files to my server. Lately i have had a few users that get the following error.

    Java.net.UnknowHost Exception: local host

    -OR-

    java.net.socket.exception: network is unreachable: connect

I believe these errors are on their side. I think this some kind of network set up; but how do I tell them to fix it?

Seems this is something related to protocol level, TCP error may be. Ask your client to check there connections. Ask them what type of connections there are using. Sometimes connections can loss for a second, and in that moment you can have that kind of exceptions.

"local host" is not a valid host, "localhost" is.
If the network is unreachable then there is nothing you can do about it, it's a network problem.

You should have code in your applet that traps these errors and fails gracefully.
