    Default Problems viewing applets

I have written a simple applet to move a few objects across the applet viewer. I have ran it at college and it works without any problems. The problem is when I run it at home in applet viewer the image is completly redrawn in the position instead of moved. It also moves much slower and is very annoying. I tried running it in IE and it does the same thing. My professor has sampleapplets on his website which i have ran at school and they run fine. When I try to run them at home on IE they either do the same thing described above or the applet viewer screen turns completly black and does not do anything. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated as I have to write a full applet for my next class and cannot write it under the current conditions( i have no way to test a 100+ line of code applet if a 10 line code of applet takes 5 minutes to view). Thanks in advance.

Also whenever I run an applet on IE and I click on the JAVA(TM) PLATFORM the graphics come up all messed up and disconfigured. Also I forgot to mention this earlier, but sometimes when I try to view an applet online, such as one of the ones off my professors website, the graphics come up all messed up as well, usually looking like a black screen with 4-5 squares in random spots with multi colored lines through them.

Also sometimes my applets will repeat themselves for a while and will not close. The only way to close them is to use task manager.

First, check your computer has the latest versions of Java (1.6) and web browser (IE 7, Firefox 3). If that doesn't work, make sure everything else is up to date (OS updates, drivers) and check for viruses. If everything's still messed up, there's probably something wrong with your machine or it's simply too old.

thanks, I appreciate your help. I have everything updated. It looks like my computer is simply too old( My parentsgave it to me when I moved out and it is 3-4 years old). Looks like i am just going to have to use the schools computer lab. I appreciate your help though

I can run an applet that displays an image on an older computer then 3-4 years.

    What are your computer specs?

    What OS are you running?
