It's very likely that your Java code won't need to know about barcodes at all. Typical barcode scanners decode the barcode themselves and feed a String to your program, exactly as if you'd typed it on a keyboard. If you need something different, please explain what you need to do.

Why do you need Java barcode libraries? What is Java doing with the barcodes? All you've talked about so far is scanning, and if you're only scanning, then Java doesn't see barcodes, it just sees Strings. Do you need to generate barcodes? Do you need to read barcodes from .TIFF files?

My basic advice is don't get ahead of yourself. Wait until you run into a real need before you go shopping.

    Thumbs up

Thanks Gary for the reply...I need to scan the barcode then the barcode decoder will decode it then i need to save it to Oracle database using Java Technology. Ok now my doubt is cleared.

    Thanks for the reply.
