Default Hallo from a new guy!

I have joined today with the intention of using Java 1.6 in conjunction with some Hypertext open source tools such as Silk and Hypertext.
I wish to use them in building a Personal Knowledge Management Platform.
    And now to me.
I am not a programmer, but a writer and of course I need some help to get prodded into the right direction.
Both tools I have just mentioned were released in 2004(?) and have since that date not been updated. Both have a dependency on Java 1.2 and I have Java 6 installed. I cannot seem to get the tools operational.
Are any members of the forums users of Hypertext or Silk?
Have any users experience in getting the products operational and are able and willing to ask the right questions of me to help me find a solution?
For an such help I would be more than grateful.
Thenks for reading my posting and tzhinking about how to help me.
    Kind regards, forkinpm
