I have about 16 years programming experience, but not in Java or web development in general. My experience is mainly with VB6 (not .NET) and COBOL. The web has become very popular, and businesses are moving their apps to the web.

I currently work for the US Postal Service, and there is a push to move applications to the intranet. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to have any involvement with those efforts.

I'm afraid my skills may soon become obsolete. I'm not sure what to do about it, but I decided to take college classes in web development. I'm currently taking a Java programming class and look forward to the second semester of Java. So far the class is just covering basic stuff, so it has been easy.

I decided to come to this website to see if I can learn more about Java.
