Hello World
Hello everybody,
My name is Jacob and I am a 13 year old website designer with a deep passion for development. I can write in HTML,CSS,PHP,SQL,AJAX and pretty much all the rest... But i recently started hacking at C and C++ but eventually lost the passion...Then after discovering that java was in many ways similar to C and C++ ( some even say C# in many ways as well ) I purchased a book online and have begun reading the 645 page marvel.... I hope by the end of this year to have most of the basics and fundamentals down....
Sincerely,
Jacob

Hello Jacob,
Welcome to Java world Java is a very good language to learn. If you want to evolve as a programmer you will also need to learn at some point a low(er) level language like C. C gives you a unique understanding of how a computer processor actually works and also how a program actually is executed by the computer. Keep in mind when you learn a language that the people who invented it had a purpose in mind as well as constraints that we might not know about now.
But Java is a very good language for starting serious programming after developing web sites.
Good luck

Hi JacobKrustchinsky,
Welcome to our community.
You make a right choice pal. Java is a very good language to learn. You have to touch and go with OOP concepts too, but it is not much difficult at all. As Daniel says, learning a low level language give a big chance to make learning stuff well. Because, in simple words, working with low level language you have to manage all the concepts in programming like memory and so on.
At the same time, read our FAQ page before post the next thread.
Anyway, best of luck for your journey on Java world.
Eranga
