Default I'm from corporate and I'm here to help!

Cough cough on that thread title, lol.

Hi, I'm John and I've been designing and developing software since around 1993. I did performance analysis and evaluation for mainframe systems since 1984 prior to that, where I was charged with developing realistic workloads and performance evaluation methodologies. I've started learning about object oriented design and programming around 1991. I've been developing software in C, C++ since 1993 and in Java since around 2008.

I came here looking for help in solving a somewhat advanced Java problem, for which I got rapid assistance that guided me to a very nice solution to my problem. After looking around the forum, I thought it would be nice to stick around and help out with answering questions where I can.

    John

Welcome, John! It'll be handy to have one more professional around for those tough real-life questions where those of us who are amateurs get stumped ;)

    Lol!

My real life answers...there are only two.

    1) If it seems to good to be true, it is: do NOT click it, download it, molest it, fondle it, just turn and run away as fast as you can.
    2) An expert is the person having marginally more knowledge than you about the topic at hand.

Oh yeah, have a question? Google it!

Combine that with "consult the basic tutorials and API" (which is really just an extension of googling it), and you've just answered about half the questions here. I think you'll do just fine.
