Greetings all!
My name is Jeff, and i'm currently enrolled in a small community college. I'm working on my degree in Computer Science (general option). My knowledge of Java is still rather negligible; I'm about half way through first Java programming course. I enjoy programming, and I've found Java to be, by far, my favorite language. The only issue I've had so far is the slow pace in which my course progresses. I've been losing interest in the subject due to lack of stimulation.
There is only so much I can learn from my textbook, and the instructor, unfortunately, must maintain the current pace. I'm excited to join this community and learn from those with experience in the field, and I look forward to helping others when I can.
I do have one question before I delve into things. I was curious about the job prospects with a C.S. general option degree. From the minor research I have done, I've found that the general option is less desirable than the Theory and Analysis option. Should I continue my current path, or would it be worth-while to choose a specialty?

Hello and welcome to the Java-Forums.org!
Regarding your question, I'll have to leave that to one of the professionals. Best of luck though with your endeavors!
