Need your advise.
Hi,
This is my first post. I don't know anyone who is into IT and programming, so I thought of asking this question in this forum. I have a basic computer knowledge(C, C++), but there has been a big gap in my career (family issues) and I have forgotten what I learnt :( I am thinking about starting my career back and want to do a course in Java or Oracle DBA or Oracle PL/SQL.
I am condiering Oracle DBA 11g certification (OCA, OCP) or Oracle PL/SQL (OCA, OCP). Also, I looked up a community college that is offering these classes in Java- Java Core, Advanced Java Programming, Java Web Application Development I, Java Web Application Development II, Grails for Java Web Applications, Groovy for Java Programmers, Practical Java, Concurrency Programming Fundamentals in Java. In 'real' world what would be my role if I pursue these courses.
Not sure if I should learn Oracle or Java :( Which one would be good in today's market? Please pardon my ignorance, but I would appreciate if someone could please assist me with this.
Thanks,
Tracy

I personally think you would get a lot more benefit learning java well. You can do a multitude of things with java knowledge, from programming in java, or to learning other languages and using them. What do you want to do withthe knowledge?

Thanks for replying to my post. I want to do a certification and then start looking for 'entry level' jobs.
