When I first decided to get in to programming (7 years ago), Java was the first language a developer recommended I learn as my first language.
That didn't go so well as the OO approach baffled me at the time. I quickly found my ground and comfort with languages like BASIC, python, PHP, JS and (even) perl :P
Every year or so, I tried Java again, but the OO thing always tripped me up. Recently I tried once again, and noticed it came really easily this time. I'm going through a nice easy Java book and I've just finished my first applet program... Office jargon YAY!
I'm hoping to get on a programming course soon and one day try and get a job doing some I like for a living. For now, I'm just enjoying Java
