New to Java and Eclipse

My name is Samuel (Sam) I've written many lines of VBScript I have some COBOL in my history as well. :rolleyes: I'm oblivious to C, Java, and Eclipse but I will learn quickly enough so that I'm not a complete pain ;)

I'm going through the Eclipse tutorial and hope to start some Java coding soon. I've bought up a couple books from the library book store the O'Reilly JavaScript and Java in a Nutshell. They are old editions but having a reference even old is helpful when starting a new language.
I've tried some JavaScript within HTA's but most of what I do requires some sort of file I/O, I'm not fond of wrappers in any code, so I need a language that can do the file I/O.

I work for a large corporation 30,000+ employee's, I have a Golden Retriever named Franky, and love the outdoors. I live in Minnesota, USA where I've learned to hunt mosquitoes :D big hungry mosquitoes :eek: Winter camping is nice there are no bugs for some reason.

I hope to learn enough about programming in Java in the next year or so to move from an application support role to a programming roll where I work. I'd also like to write some sort of program or be part of a project for the G1 phone. I have a G1 phone best thing sense sliced bread! I love the ability to tether to my laptop and get to the digital world from the dog park :cool:
Even if it's a game it would be fun, yes I like to play online games as well.
