Hello, I'm Andrew. Here's my story:
In sophomore year of high school I was introduced to computer science through a class at my high school called "Logic for Programming." I learned basic C++, plus the essential background I would need for programming in the future. It was then I realized that programming is something I want to do for the rest of my life. I excelled far beyond everyone in my class, only matched by one person. Junior year I advanced into AP Computer Science with a few people. This is when I was introduced to Java. Finally, this year (senior year) I'm in an independant study class where I basically teach myself whatever I can find.
Recently, I came to the realization that I am still very far behind in the world of programming. Java is the language I am most famliar with, and I like the features it has. As such, I came here to hopefully strengthen my abilities with Java and programming in general. I only have education from high school classes and what I tought myself, so I really hope this community can help me out.
I put together a small team of friends from my website's forum in hopes of creating something interesting, though for now it would only be for learning purposes and experience. I'm probably going to have a lot of questions, so I think this forum will be a great help with that project.
Other computer based hobbies of mine include graphic art and web design. O.o
