Red face New To Java. Books? Tips?

I am starting as I post this thread. I'm currently learning from reading Amazon.com: Introduction to Java Programming, Comprehensive (8th Edition) (9780132130806): Y. Daniel Liang: Books. Is there any other book I should get? Are there any important tips?

ALSO I was wondering if I can download a copy of the API to have on my ereader in PDF/doc/any text form? It'd be so handy.

You can download the documentation from Oracle's website: Java SE Development Kit Documentation 7

I'm not sure if it will be compatible with your e-reader, though.

As a supplement to your book, you can use The Java Tutorials.

Yes, the API documentation is a bit hard to find if you don't know the right keywords to search for.

All the books I use are so outdated that it's difficult.

I recommend Sam's Teach Yourself Java 6 in 21 Days. It's technically a tad outdated, so you could wait for the newer version that will be available August 30. It's only 24 USD on amazon right now, which is a bargain.
