Pick one and say (a) in what sense it is needed (b) what evidence exists that shows that it is needed in that sense.

Point (a) is often overlooked with people conflating "feature does not exist", "feature is commonly requested", "feature would make the language more expressive", "feature would facilitate making measurably more efficient code" etc, all as "needed".

10: Only needed for programs with print output. How many of those are there in Swing?
    9: Never heard of BigDecimal?
8 and 7: Make up your mind. Better usually means more versatile, which means less compact.
6: Against the WORA philosophy. Not much needed in any case.
    5: Yours doesn't?
    3: Who said that?
2: It's so easy to roll your own
1: Huh? The OS should have that first
