    Question Selling my software?

    I am almost done coding a program for my dad to use at his business, but if I wanted to also market the software, how would I go about doing so?

    One philosophy I've heard is that you should sell a service, not a product. So give away your base software for free (nobody is going to rely on software they have to pay for from an unknown publisher anyway). Then when people are hooked, they'll want upgrades and additional features.. and that's when you charge them.

    Yeah or you could fill the free version with annoying ads or limit its functionality to basic use.
