Default how to return value in message driven bean?

I am using webservice over JMS. The receiver is implemented using message driven bean.
    1) How to return webservice/xml in message driven bean?
    2) Is there a way to define sync or async in receiver side?

    2) I guess if you want synchronous receiving you dont use MDBs. You could do that with a "normal" message consumer. This consumer will block for a spezified amount of time.
