Default Display line numbers in source code

I want to turn on line numbering in my java source code. I'm trying to make good use of the Eclipse built-in documentation, but so far am getting lost in the thicket. I could use an answer plus a tip on the best way to find my way around Eclipse help.

    Thanks.

The preferences windows in eclipse have a very nifty search box that allows you to search for things such as this. Go to Window->Preferences and search, it should be under General->Editors->Text Editors
