Having problems getting started with Eclipse
I just downloaded the Eclipse IDE for Java Developers - 32-bit Windows version. I fired up the IDE and went through the first Hello World tutorial with no problems whatsoever. The second tutorial 'Create a Hello World SWT application' is causing me some problems.
After opening the Java perspective, the tutorial instructs me to Import the SWT project: Open the Import wizard from the main menu via File > Import..., and select Plug-in Development > Plug-ins and Fragments. Click Next
So, at this step, for one I'm not sure what the ..., is after Import. Simply going to File > Import I don't see anything that says Plug-in Development. So, where is the Plug-in Development option?
I even went out to the web and grabbed the SWT Eclipse plug-in thinking that it wasn't installed and that this might be what I need. I followed the instructions found here: Developing SWT applications using Eclipse but it didn't seem to help.
Lastly, in the tutorial on this step there is an option to 'click to perform' which is supposed to do the step for you. When I did this I got a dialog box that popped up saying "Problem Occurred - The command did not execute properly" After selecting Details it said "unknown wizard org.eclipse.pde.ui.PluginImportWizard"
So, I've got something majorly screwed up. How do I proceed?
Thx. moby.

Re: Having problems getting started with Eclipse
Are you sure that the same IDE version is using which your tutorial is talking about?

Re: Having problems getting started with Eclipse
Yes, the tutorial that I'm referring to is the second Java tutorial on the welcome page that ships with the Eclipse IDE. See attachment. There must be something fundamental that I'm screwing up. I'm new to Java and can't yet make it through the 2nd tutorial! Thx.

Re: Having problems getting started with Eclipse
Actually I do see the ... next to the Import. Sorry, my bad.
However, I still don't see the Plug-in Development option after I select Import. Shown in the attachment is the tutorial that I've talking about. If you look on the far right you will see the tutorial steps - in particular, the one that tells me to select Import and Plug-in Development. On the left is the Import window pane showing the only available options.
I'm still not sure what is going on.

Re: Having problems getting started with Eclipse
Possibly the basic Eclipse does not come with plug-in development stuff (hard to believe, I have to say)?
I don't know where the tutorial draws its data from, but it's also possible it's not for that version of Eclipse?

Re: Having problems getting started with Eclipse
OK, is there some other way that I should learn to use SWT? I'm not sure how I will do the import though...
