    Default what does the gray (x) means?

    protected static boolean sameSign(double n1,double n2){
    return (n1>0&&n2>0)||(n1<0&&n2<0);
    }
    there is nothing wrong with this method, but there is a gray x next to the return method, what does that mean?

    Have you tried compiling the code to see if the compiler will give you any messsages?

    if eclipse detect a syntax error then a red x is shown. try the following: delete the 2 in n2>0, save the file and then insert it again. after these operations a gray x will be shown, but as soon you save your file again it disappear. gray x marks a prior error that has been corrected.

    After copying and pasting your code in Eclipse 3.5 I don't see any gray X. About the code being correct: call it as: sameSign(0.0, 0.0) and see for yourself ...

    kind regards,
