Browser-based games. Where do I start?
Hey,
This looks like a cool forum. I've been asking on several forums for the past week now and no one can give me any answers.
I have been programming for about 10 years. C# is my preferred language right now. I am getting tired of business management and want to get into game programming. I want to develop basic multiplayer games that can be played via a browser and can access a MS SQL database. To start with I just want to make small card and word games like the ones you find at pogo.com.
Does anyone here play at pogo.com or know what type of technology they use for making those games? I have looked into several and was pointed to Eclipse. I found the download was 125MB and I want to know if its what I'm looking for before I download it.
I would also like to have a small chat box/window in the games. I'm not sure where to start on this, if I need some type of server or web host, etc.
Can someone please help me get on the right track and let me know if Eclipse is what I am looking for?
Is Eclipse a free product? Is it the same as MyEclipse?
Thanks in advance! :)
