    Default Exercises for learning swing

Hello, I'm trying to learn Java properly by myself. Currently I'm using the Core Java book vol 1 which is fantastic in detail, unfortunately it provides no exercises. GUI has not been a requirement or taught in my CS major so I'd like some advice on how to learn Swing. Where can I find resources that have exercises for learning Swing?

Trail: Creating a GUI With JFC/Swing (The Java™ Tutorials)

But skip the Netbeans part. Learn coding a GUI by hand. It seems tedious in the beginning, but when you get more and more confident in it, you'll notice that a GUI editor like Netbeans is actually even worse :)

My goal is to learn by hand as dumb as that might sound actually lol.
