Default Between GUI and the application functionality

    Hello,

well I'm kind of still a noob at coding in general and particularly with JAVA. I have built some Applications with GUI and know how to create the GUI using Netbeans and I've coded a few(very minimal) apps where i coded GUI by hand. But what I don't know is what is the best and correct way to create the connection between GUI and program functionality? I mean I used to modify the code of the GUI frame, but I believe that's not it? Can anyone suggest me links to turoials or books/ebooks, where or anything where I could get some info on that?

Also, please share you experience, how you do it and what way do you think is the best way to do itt?

I mean it's like a topic, nobody wants to go deep in, but I feel I'm doing it unefficiently...

Well OK, let's say I have a problem like this:
    , the
Application window hides main window and opens another window, where the user has to enter data and then he clicks ok and the new window should disappear and notify somehow that the main Application window can now go on.

    How do I do that?
I mean the only way I'm thinking of doing it is just pass through parameters the instance of the window who creates the input window and then the input window should let the main window go on? But that's stupid it's like big window creates a small one, which controls once again the big one?

How do I do this correctly?

The standard programming idiom is to use a modal dialog.
