Exception code: 0xc0000005! in awt.dll
I have a Swing(AWT) app that does nothing much than act as a console to bunch of threads.
At randon points windows will generate a "There has been a problem ...." and when you close it it closes the application too.
Looking in the event log it shows :-
Faulting application name: java.exe, version: 6.0.300.12, time stamp: 0x4ebb9ffe
Faulting module name: awt.dll, version: 6.0.300.12, time stamp: 0x4ebbc406
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00000000000ef235
Faulting process id: 0x177c
Faulting application start time: 0x01cce4622a116acd
Faulting application path: C:\Windows\system32\java.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\awt.dll
Report Id: 0914c23a-5089-11e1-918c-001a4d4a84e6
Okay nothing very helpful otherthan the AWT.dll reference and te Exeception Code
The application outputs a log and it always stops at the same point but no GUI activity has occured at that point or just after it.
I have tried to see if Java creates any crash dump but no files can be found even after the file location is added as sys param at runtime
I have this running on another PC (Windows 7 Prof, 32bit, JRE 6 U30, 32Bit) which has not resulted in a problem:- Me thinks perhaps it is a 64BIT JRE problem?
I can see me seperating this into two aps, GUI and Server something I didn't want to do as it will mean more coding/interaction between the two...
Any suggestions guys?
Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate
Java 6 U30 64BIT

This looks suspicious
Have you respected Swing's single threaded rule? Are all Swing components constructed and modified only on the EDT and never from any other Thread?

At randon points ...
