    Arrow GUI Creator (Recruitment)

    Hi all,

I am currently working on a program that will calculate the customer lifetime value of an organisation.

Here is an article to explain what it is I am doing: http://mapo.vub.ac.be/Thesisonderwerpen2004_link04.pdf

I am a math major so I can do the mathematics programming. However, I truly lack GUI programming skills and I was wondering if someone wanted to embark on an interesting project (might learn a little bit of math and business at the same time). I know there are GUI editors like in Netbeans but I would rather code by hand. The GUI won't require anything major either. Looking to do a simple tabbed component with some buttons and a jmenu; all in swing/awt.

If anyone is interested, please pm me. Mods, if this isn't the appropriate section please move it. I didn't want to place this in the job sections because this isn't a job mainly just something for fun.

Nope. Not in school at the moment. Something I am just doing for fun as I have done the Customer Lifetime Value concept for an internship before. Thought it would be cool to create a program that would do it for me instead of doing a million different calculations in excel. That way I could just import csv data and hit calculate.

If that's the case, why should we deprive you of the fun of learning how to code GUI's in Swing? There's a lot to be gained by doing this. The tutorials can be found here: Using Swing Components. Then if you run into trouble, we'll be more than happy to assist you.

I'm fully capable of doing it. I just don't want to. I already have a basic one designed I would just rather recruit someone with better skills/knowledge of swing components, various layouts, etc. Oh no, nobody is depriving me of anything. I've had my share of GUI programming. I think I've made enough board games in my academic career to convince me never to want to do it ever again.
