Default How do I capture webcam image into data array

I have a YUV webcam and want to access every third image frame for processing. I started the camera with createRealized Player and later, used frameGrab to load an image into memory. It is aleady in exactly the format I want it, except that Java doesn't seem to let me work on the data in an efficient way. Java let's you do it with an RGB buffer so it can't be a security issue, just another Java idioscyncracy. Is there a way of accessing this data as a byte array or integer array? Preferably something reasonably efficient that doesn't take some convoluted route such as via writing to a disk file or copyiing all the intermediate data to an RGB buffer.

Have you looked at the PixelGrabber class?

I have now and it looks pretty good. I was trying to avoid copying the data from one place to another when all I really need is a pointer (can I use that word in a Java forum?). But, I've wasted days looking for a solution and not getting anywhere. Now, with PixelGrabber, I can continue with the rest of the program. Thanks.
