    Default (Me <= idiot)?

    I have a problem here and i want to ask a question but i am not sure what my problem is exactly, so I will explain what i have to do and maybe you guys can give me some ideas.

    The task I'm given is to write a GUI that displays a Futoshiki puzzle and lets the user interact with it. I have my Futoshiki class running smoothly. What i don't really understand is how do i go about displaying that puzzle in a window. I have read about the most common layout managers but still can't figure out what has to be done.

    A Futoshiki puzzle looks like this
    If you need any more info just ask. (im not really sure what you need to know at this point).
    Thanks in advance :)

    And also advice on creating a meaningful subject line.

    ok i got it and im sorry for wasting your time but let me formulate my problem differently. I need to display a 5x5 grid of cells(buttons) that contain numbers. I've tried using gridLayout but the thing is that i need to be able to use the gaps between the cells for 'greater than' and 'less than' constraints. I don't really know how to approach this goal in terms of which layout manager I'm supposed to use. I'm thinking it might be done by nesting several managers but i have no idea which ones.
    Thanks again

    Consider using a 9x9 grid with JTextFields alternating with JLabels on one row, and nothing but JLabels on the next row, and then repeat.

    Apparently continued here, with a better subject line
    putting GUI onto a futoshiki puzzle

    Content isn't any better though :(
