    Java or Javascript?

For Java and for the jre currently running, have a look at getProperties() in the System class.

Accessing the client's PC from the client side is not an easy task, and not secure too. Are you refering with Java or JavaScript.

Seems to me your application is Java web based, so that why don't you deals with System Properties?

If you really want to do this with Java, then better to ask it on a JS forum that how to access the clients' PC.

I'm not sure the question is really well defined for JS. I mean there are a couple of java runtimes installed on this compter. How would JS know that? And what business is it of some random web page what software I have installed? (Finding out about browser plugins I can sort of understand - and I agree a JS forum is the place to find out about that.)

Actually there are some plugins that you can find the system details from the client side. But I didn't see any free sources for that.

    That's cool.

Anyway in web application, accessing such client resources is not secure in most cases. Better to address those things when you design your application.
