Are you using webstart? If not, then I don't think that this bug applies to you, and you'll have to look deeper at your code. I suggest that you create a minimal Swing app that we can compile and run and that demonstrates the problem.

    Default splashscreen

    Hi
    Thank you for your reply
The problem is i m not able to figure out how to configure the Eclipse such that the application finds the splash.gif file

if that bug does not apply then only error is that the java application ( standalone ) does not find the splash.gif file

    Regards
    kmm

Then the problem has nothing to do with the bug report but rather is a bug in your code. Are you able to upload and display the image in a Java program by any method at all, forget splash screen for now? Do you know where Java is looking for your file? You may want to create that small demon program that I was telling you about and posting it here.

    Default splashscreen problem

    yes you are correct

the application is not finding the gif

i placed the gif in the same folder as the runnable jar ( which i created with eclipse )

    and started with

    java -splash:mypic.gif -jar test.jar

but how do i pack it with the runnable jar , is it possible to start the applications splashscreen without -splash option ?

my manifest file looks like this

    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: test
    Class-Path: test.jar
    SplashScreen-Image: icons/mypic.gif

    regards
