Hello all,
I work in a project and i want to open a .xml or .doc file in a text area or in a label.. whatever is easier.. I tried to use jfilechooser to do that but i didn't find any solution to do it.. I can't find the right method to get the component of a doc or xml and to show it in a label or text area.. Can anyone help me?

A JTextArea is used to dispaly text.
It should be able to display an XML file since XML is text.
However, if your .doc file is a Word .doc file then it will not work. You will just see garbage, because the text area does not know how to format the file. In this case you will need to use the Destop class.
In my project i want the user to choose an xml file via jfilechooser and then the component of this file to be shown in a text area. I didn't find any method or the way to do it.. :confused:
Why not use the read() method of JTextArea.
i want to thank all of you for your help and especially camickr because the class desktop worked.. but i want to ask something more :)
With the class desktop the .xml file opens in a new window.. i did't figure out how to import the component of this file in the textarea. I tried to do it with:
jTextArea1.read(filetoopen);
(filetoopen is the file which is chosen from the user)
but i have error in the compile...
Does anyone have any idea? :)
