Default Validate checkbox functionality in java

I have created my first android application using eclipse one of the activites requires the user to fill out a vehicle checklist. So far they can check the boxes however I was wondering if there is a way to set validation so the user cannot proceed to the next page until all the required fields are completed. checkboxs drop down lists text boxs etc. Also I was wondering if you can program a checkbox so if it is not selected it will load a text box for the user to type the defects of the vehicle into?

    Moved to Android.
program a checkbox so if it is not selected
Not sure how to handle events that have not happened.
Is there an event that calls a listener where the status of other components can be tested before continuing?

Yes i know on click listener will pick up if the button is selected. No it is a checklist for vans so they check their lights are working seat belts, mirros etc but if there is a problem i want them to be able to list the defect. its ok im just going to put a text box in so they can fill it in that way. but is there a way to stop the user from proceeding until the form is completed?

is there a way to stop the user from proceeding until the form is completed?
Is the proceeding controlled by the program?
Then the program should make sure the form is completed before proceeding.
