    Default Eclipse Simulator

I'm very new to the world of java and any other kind of software.
After creating my first app on MSDN in C#, I thought I'd try creating the same app in java for an android platform. Down loaded all the Android SDK (from Creating an Android Project | Android Developers). I have done similar from various other website links offering the complete package for android app development.

When following the tutorials I have never been able to get the simulator to come up on the screen.

Can't seem to get past the first task with android and perhaps as you can see from my post, I am not even sure how to describe my problem.
Can someone help me get the simulator to start when I push the play button.

I was never able to get the simulator to work. Instead I use the Oracle VM VirtualBox. Once loaded with a working version of Android, it loads in less than 30 secs on Win7 Netbook.
The Genymotion site has an easy to use tool for downloading and installing versions of Android in the VM.

I usually start the emulator first, and then launch the app.
There should be a button in the toolbar which will show you what emulators you have setup and allow you to start them.

    Be warned though...it's painfully slow.

Norm: Thanks for that...I've been meaning to look into a VM for android. You saved me the hunt for some links!
    :)
Please do not ask for code as refusal often offends.

That is an insanely cool solution, I didn't even think it was possible to use VirtualBox. Thanks!

It does have a few glitches. I can't get the 4.3 version from Genymotion to work. My PC is getting older (8 years?) and maybe the Graphics card is too old. It doesn't support the current OpenGL stuff. Android 4.2.2 works fine.
