Default why cant I create an avd in which cpu/abi as intel atom(x86)

I'm a beginner to android app development. Actually i'm following a tutorial that was created in 2008 , in which the tutor teaches about installing AVD. Today I downloaded all the stuffs needed to setup the environment for android development on my notebook as per the tutorial. but the difference is that the windows/dialog screens that were shown in the tutorial are different from those which I downloaded today. The AVD manager has some extra input fields. so i do not know what to do with them? I googled it but I cant get it. screen shots of them:
    This is old one :

    This is new one :

Help me Please . Please suggest me some good sources that have tutorials taught in latest versions of android. Thanks in advance !

Here's the official docs on handling AVDs.

All you're doing is creating something that represents your target mobile device.

If you're learning I'd just go with the defaults.

Thanks tolls. Eventhough i'm familiar with java , why android code looks strange to me? I'm really afraid of those xml files too. I cant understand the relationship between these two kind of files while creating app?

Android is pretty similar to JavaFX apps built with fxml files rather than hand coded GUIs.
They're also similar to the mappings you see in web apps frameworks.
