Hello,

I have installed the android sdk and I dont know what it is exactly, or what is included in it.

Is it just a package of classes which we are to use to make android applications?

The Android SDK basically gives you all of the tools you need to begin developing applications for the Android platform.
It includes all of the classes you need to reference. For more details visit the android website

Please don't revive old threads like this. Even if you are looking back through old posts for android stuff and find something on which you'd like to comment, stop and think about how old the thread is. Threads are discussions and, as such, have a natural lifespan.

Yes, some threads deal with specific technical questions and an answer is welcome even months later. But most discussions here are not of that sort. Instead they deal with a particular member wanting clarification of some concept or code. If every question about the Android SDK were to be updated with every tutorial written about the Android SDK there would be little room on the interwebs for anything else ;)

@annaharris: These comments are not intended for you specifically, but for all those who are tempted to revive old threads as this creates "noise" for those actively following the forums.
