Android phone communicating with another device via sockets?
I'd like to exchange messages via sockets between an Android phone and a non-Android computer. Are there any "gotchas" to this, or does anybody have any advice, links, sample code, etc.?

What is the difference from normal Computer–Computer communication?
Ex animo! Hibernate
Java, Arch Linux, C, GPL v3, Bash, Eclipse, Linux VT, GNOME 2 and many buttons on windows.

Was that a rhetorical question? If not, nothing that I know of, I just don't want to make a rookie mistake because of my Android newbiness.
