Post Java WebStart / OSGI. Update at runtime

I have to build a server application. My issue is that it can never shutdown/restart. But I still need to update it.

After some research I learned about OSGI where I can add/remove a bundle of code while the application is running. (update to a new version)

Can I use JavaWS to update my OSGI application without having to close and restart it?

I'm new to OSGI/JavaWS so I may confuse things around.
    Thank you for your help
    Suggestions are welcome!

No, OSGI is completely separate from webstart and not even part of the standard JDK, its an entirely third party thing with its own documentation.

On top of that I don't think that for a server application webstart would ever come into the picture, its more built for starting up local client applications.

Thank you for clearing my head up, I wasn't sure about this.

Is there anything that could work with OSGI? without the need to code my own update implementation?

Now you're messing up my head. You already know it is OSGI itself that is the answer to your questions! Now get out there and go learn how to apply it, soldier!

PS: there is but one thing I will correct in your assessment. You don't use OSGI to reload the entire application, you use it to manage and possibly update individual modules.
