hello, i am making a program which uses porter stemmer library for stemming words. I have added/included a jar file "porter-stemmer-1.4-sources.jar" to my project, I am facing an error that "package org.tartarus.martin does not exists" , i am using net beans IDE. Need help to resolve this error!

If that .jar file contains sources (as the name suggests), you should compile them first and add the compiled files to your project (possibly in a .jar file you made yourself), or get the .jar file with the compiled files and add that to your project.

    kind regards,

No need to shout; you probably have a file of sources (as the name of that .jar file suggests) linked to your project, while you need a file of compiled classes.

    kind regards,

Did you get the jar file from GC: porter-stemmer-1.4.jar - GrepCode Java Project Source? If you did, you'd see there that there are 2 jar files that you can download:
    1. Binary download: porter-stemmer-1.4.jar
    2. Source download: porter-stemmer-1.4-sources.jar

I've not downloaded the jar files myself, but "source download" would typically mean the jar file contains .java files that you'll need to first compile into .class files before you can use them. For simplicity why not use the binary download, which should already contain pre-compiled .class files? This is what Jos is trying to tell you.
