    Default Need Help for Assignment

First of all, hello. I'm new here and this is my first post. I'm now learning Java in my college and I already know most of the basics. I still need a lot of help when it comes to advanced features, so please bear with me.

I have an assignment. Group work actually, but my partners are... questionable. Anyway, the assignment is to create a simple game and my group is tasked to re-create this following game with Java.

Play Z-Rox, a free online game on Kongregate

The game is about guessing a moving, mostly concealed object. Quite hard to explain. Better take a look at the game's tutorial to see how it works.

The game totally doesn't have to be precise re-creation. Just the basic function is enough.

Of course, I don't want to be spoonfed. I won't learn anything that way. For now I only need to know what kind of imports, methods, classes, constructors, threads, etc are needed to re-create that game, and maybe some hints on the assembly. I will ask for help again later if I get stuck with no visible solution.

    Thanks in advance.

But you are the one seeking help, right?

Providing all of that would be spoon feeding. There is more to coding than just writing code. There is the design aspect of it too (which can be difficult). Perhaps you should get together with the rest of the team and discuss this. Besides, I couldn't help you anyway since I do not generally visit external sites posted on this forum unless they are well known.

As you make progress, come back to the site and post your work. The folks here can help guide you.

    Regards,
    Jim

I would start with setting your limitations and then focus on how you're going to do it.

    - you are NOT going to be drawing anything; you are going to do this on the command prompt or at best by dumping texts in a JTextArea
    - you are NOT going to be building some sort of artificial intelligence; the "moving object" is simply going to be controlled with random number generation
    - it is NOT going to be real time; the object will move each time you do a "turn"

With those limitations in place, it is going to be a lot easier to do and you can drop any form of threading already for example. If you have to ask questions like this, you are nowhere near ready to be touching something like that.
