    Lightbulb Swing Java tutorial

    Hello guys,

I need some java advanced swing free video tutorials if someone knows.
I've searched on youtube, but there are only basics, I want to go deeper.

    Thank you

Why a video? You're not blind, nor are you an analphabetic, so what's wrong with reading? (i.e. moving your eyes from left to right in a more or less regular pattern). Oracle has a great section on Swing in their tutorials (Google knows where to find it).

    kind regards,

    Jos

    Always strikes me as odd.
There's a chap here who seems to like video tutorials...I find them tedious compared to a decent written one, largely down to not easily being able to skip over the bits I already know.
Please do not ask for code as refusal often offends.

It strikes me as odd that people don't have the patience to write proper questions in a forum or do proper Google searches (which means looking at more than 2 hits) but they do have the patience to sit through these tedious videos apparently.

I can understand it -somewhat- that you would like a video, if that video is properly made. An added benefit is that there is a voice, and with the proper person behind it a video can make absorbing information a whole lot more fun and thus more effective. I mean the teachers in school that were the most effective for me were the ones that applied humor. Most videos I have seen people link to so far, are not well made at all.

I take quill18 as an example of how to do it right - that guy just puts plenty of energy and positivity in his videos which just helps you to get motivated to copy his efforts.

Interesting. I have learned a number of things watching videos. But I have always found computer science videos extremely boring. Watching someone code (or try to code and explain that stuff) just doesn't hold my interest like reading an article or a book about it.

Agreed, the Oracle website is a spaghetti mess and the tutorials (most of them copied over from Sun back in the day) are not really -that- great as a learning tool, they serve their purpose as a reference.

Also agreed, video tutorials work better when the subject material is more visual such as the example I posted. But as I said it CAN work, if the video is well made. And the video is well made when it doesn't show someone coding most of the time but rather shows the end result of it - the program being built. And that can only work if the tutorial in question builds an actual program in stead of just demonstrating some silly hello world things.
