Try providing more information. Like... any information. Now you're asking "can you help me to do things and stuff".

Still very vague. You want to make something which generates UML diagrams from Java code?

If so: forget it, you are not going to do that.

The UML generator from JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA does a pretty good job though.

+1 for using existing tooling. And I must say: that's the best looking result I've seen - ever. Not that I often (want to) reverse-engineer UML diagrams from code.

Same here. I wonder if UML is still used in the wild. I remember doing a 4 day UML 2.0 course years ago. After the 4th day, we didn't need the books anymore, nor the knowledge. I haven't seen it used in any project. Atfirst it looks (and is) incredibly useful, but as the project goes on, diagrams are a bitch to maintain if it has to be done manually. Imagine adding a line in some stupid UML diagram each time you add a method to an interface. Brrr, the horror.

UML diagrams serve a purpose as documentation. I tend to whip up a stupid class diagram drawn on a piece of paper only though, sequence diagrams and collaboration diagrams I just find confusing to read and DRAWN use cases are just silly to me. Written use cases are kind of okay, I sometimes utilize them as a sort of helper to be sure I covered all the corners and they're 'human readable' so I can share with non-technical people.

It makes for awesome super-technical documentation. But it is also the hardest one to maintain. I am sure a tool like IntelliJ IDEA can whip up some fine UML diagrams, but I doubt it can handle more "enterprisey" codebases. If it doesn't, it means you have to update them by hand, which we all know is not going to happen :)
