Default Confusing error during XML transformaiton using Java

    Hello:

I have a simple java program where I call the java transformation factory and pass the xml, xsl and output file names as input. While my program runs most of the time, I sometimes get this error message:

    java.lang.NullPointerException
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at org.apache.xalan.transformer.TransformerImpl.creat eSerializationHandler(TransformerImpl.java:1171)
    at org.apache.xalan.transformer.TransformerImpl.creat eSerializationHandler(TransformerImpl.java:1060)
    at org.apache.xalan.transformer.TransformerImpl.trans form(TransformerImpl.java:1268)
    at org.apache.xalan.transformer.TransformerImpl.trans form(TransformerImpl.java:1251)

I cannot seem to figure out what this error means to debug the issue.

    Any tips is appreciated.

Default Re: Confusing error during XML transformaiton using Java

    java.lang.NullPointerException
That exception is thrown when code tries to use a reference variable that has a null value to access method or variable in a class. See the API doc for that class for a more complete explanation.
If you don't understand my response, don't ignore it, ask a question.
