Default What type of 3d animation file?

I'm just getting started with 3d java games and I have an animation in blender that I would like to use in my game. What type of 3d files does/should java take? Thank you!

Hey there. You know that Java is a development platform and not a 3D game engine right? It doesn't "take" any specific files.

Are you perhaps talking about Java3D? Its not really a developed thing anymore unless you count the efforts of individuals to remake it. If you want to create a game using Java I'd recommend going down one of two paths.

    2D games: consider using LibGDX
3D games: consider using a (Java) game engine such as JMonkeyEngine

And then your question can be answered by reading the JMonkeyEngine documentation. Do consider that Java is not really a frontier platform for game development, that is more the area of C++ and C#; for example Unity (C#) is really popular nowadays. Most resources you can find about game development will not be for the Java platform which may be quite a limitation for you.

I'm old fashioned, I'm not interested in video guides. They're too much "click here, click there" and not enough about actually understanding stuff. But if there is anything to find, you'll find them in the jME forums:

    Forum | jMonkeyEngine.org

And for a great community about Java game development, consider joining up to java-gaming.org. Its where all the designers and developers of the different frameworks and engines go to, as well as the few people that actually managed to successfully release Java based games commercially.
