    Question How to Open IE from Java Swing Application in Kiosk mode

    Hi All,

    I have to open a URL in IE from my Java Swing application running in Wiindows. I am using the below code.

    Java Code:
    public static boolean openInBrowserKioskMode(String url){

        String os = System.getProperty("os.name").toLowerCase();
        Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
        try{
            if (os.indexOf( "win" ) >= 0) {
               rt.exec( "rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler " + url);
             }
        }catch (IOException e){
             e.printStackTrace();
             return false;
        }
        return true;
    }
    When I use the above code, IE window is opening. But I have to open the IE window in Kiosk mode or without address bar, forward/back buttons, etc. What do I have to use instead of rt.exec( "rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler " + url) to open IE in kiosk mode.

    Please help me to resolve this problem

    Thanks!
    Abhijith

    Abhijit,

    What we can do here is that instead of directly opening the url from the program, open a intermediate html page. In this intermediate html page write the javascript logic(onload of this page) to invoke another window in kiosk mode with the desired url . If the url is static then this would work fine.

    If the url is dynamically generated then it would need some additional coding.

    That's not a Java question. Ask on a Windows forum.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the tip.
    I used an intermediate web page to open the new window in full screen mode by passing the same url. Since it is javascript I am not able to open in kiosk mode but just with location bar(which I am not able to hide).
