    Default gnu method

Does the gnu package contain some sort of method allowing for the detection of all ports available on a computer?

Well, it's not part of the standard JDK so you'd probably be better off asking wherever you got that package.

If you're talking about the RXTX stuff, it has an API identical to Sun's javacomm code so you should have an Enumeration available of all ports; read the API documentation.
