Default Running Excel macros with Java

I'm trying to automate a few steps for one of my users.

How do I run a macro in an an excel file?

I also need to be able to open, save, and close Excel files.

Is there an elegant way to accomplish this?

I don't know the context, of course, but Java is poor at controlling other applications. While Excel has a scripting language built in.

Yes, excel has the macros which work wonders.

The issue I have is making the macros universally available to all workbooks including new ones.

I was hoping Java had some way to save as, close, and open Excel files then run the macro.

That way my user could just run the Java application and be done.
