Problem with starting up Java
Greetings,
I'm not sure if I'm posting this at the right place, but I've had a problem with Java for a long time now and I've decided to ask about it on these forums. I've searched before I made this thread.
When I click on a program which makes use of Java it won't start up immediately. I have to wait a long time (1 to 3 hours) before it suddenly starts up.
I've analyzed a bit what's going on with the processes and what I noticed is that javaw.exe starts with a low memory (around 40mb) and slowly rises with a rate of 8kb/s (sometimes more). When it hits a certain amount of memory the program I clicked on hours ago suddenly pops up.
This is a pretty big problem because I use Eclipse for my school projects and since that makes use of javaw.exe I have to wait hours before I can code.
When the programs begin to start up I can open other Java related programs with ease and usually in less than 5 seconds. This also affects Java apps on the web.
Anyone else familiar with this problem? If you need more information feel free to ask. This laptop has 6gb memory.
Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I've reinstalled Java a lot of times.Last edited by mJagt; 08-20-2011 at 01:13 AM.

Where did you get this program? How do you know when it starts up? What does "start up" mean? When I click on a program which makes use of Java it won't start up immediately. I have to wait a long time (1 to 3 hours) before it suddenly starts up.
If the program was computing PI to 100000000000 places before giving a report, it could be quite for a while before printing out a message.

@Norm: I think the problem is that *any* java program is taking forever to start.

The OP sounds like a very patient person. 20 seconds is too long for me.
