Exclamation Problem with Java Web Applications and Java in Control Panel

    Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post my problems but I couldn't see a more suitable area in the list of Forums.

Recently I've noticed that whenever I tried to open a webpage using Java (e.g. Java version Verify or Runescape, etc.) my browser will immediately crash. I have tried all my browsers, Mozilla, Chrome and IE but they all experience the exact same problem.

I uninstalled all the versions of Java on my computer and then installed the newest version. I also disabled the oldest Java Console's and Java SE's for my browsers and left only the newest one running and still the problem persists.

Finally, I decided to go look in Control Panel at the Java section there and when I click on the icon I receive the error message:

    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe
    -Xbootclasspath/a:"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\..\lib\deploy.jar"
    -Duser.home="C:\Users\MyName" com.sun.deploy.panel.ControlPanel"

I also checked the error console in my browser and found this after clearing it and opening the Runescape website:

    "Error: Components.classes['@mozilla.org/oji/jvm-mgr;1'] is undefined
    Source File: chrome://javaconsole1.6.0_26/content/ffjcext.js
    Line: 33"

The Java Console in my browser (Mozilla Firefox) won't open when clicked either.

I can run Java based games outside my browser, such as Minecraft, with no problems. It seems to be when my browser tries to use Java it crashes instantly.

Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

(Yes I have looked all over the place online for solutions, tried various methods and had no success, I was also unable to find any reference to the same error message I got)

EDIT: I am running "Java Console 6.0.26", "Java Platform 6 update 26 6.0.260.3" and "Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.260.3 6.0.260.3" taken directly from my browsers Add-ons/Extensions Manager.

I am having EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM. jDownloader works ok (it needs java runtime) but neither chrome, firefox nor explorer does.
    Did you solve the problem?

    Thank you!

    Solution
    --------
    1. Open the harddrive your windows installation is located on (Example = C:\)
    2. Look for a file named Program (Not program files, this is actually a file with no extension named program)
    3. Delete the file and attempt to open the java control panel.

This fixed the error for me, please reply if it worked for you also :)

Wonderful :D! I found a forum talking about creating some program or something, and there was an error when he was launching it. after reading through the posts this line striked me as a possible fix :D

If I click on a button, however, which starts
    Quote:
    "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javacpl.exe"
C:\program.exe will be launched and there will be an error message stating:
    Quote:
    Notepad2: "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\Files\Java\jre6\bin\javaw.exe -Xbootclasspath/a:"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\deploy.jar" -Duser.home="C:\Users\Karlchen" com.sun.deploy.panel.ControlPanel" not found.
Would you like to create this file?

If C:\Program.exe does not exist, the same commandline ("C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javacpl.exe") works fine.
So in this case some component, (T.C., the Windows API, what else?) must commit a mistake.
