Convertin a .DAT file into readable format
Hello friends,

I have a XXXXXXXXX.DAT file which i will take from production server it contains thousands of records each record contains nearly 100 fields.

In that 100 fields one field called coat_ind=0 i want change this field coat_ind=1 and set the value back to the file

I think i need to read the file in readable format then finding the field and changing it.But, dont know how to read tht

can some one help me on this.

thanks in advance,

Usually *.DAT files are binary files. If this is the case, then it's is going to be tough, unless you know the format of the file. If it's a text file (which is possible) then your job will be much easier. If you're not sure, try to open it with a text editor.
